In a matter of hours, Cyclone Yaas will be affecting large parts Bengal and Odisha. According to the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure region has formed in north Andaman sea and east central Bay of Bengal. It is expected that it will intensify and become a cyclonic hurricane by May 24.
IMD informed me that the storm may reach North Bay of Bengal, near Odisha West Bengal Coast, by Wednesday May 26. These websites and the UMANG App provide live updates on the cyclone.
Cyclone Yaas live updates on UMANG app
Both Google Play Store and Apple App Store are available for the UMANG application. While the app has been downloaded millions on Google Play Store already, it is not yet available on Apple App Store. It basically provides a “single platform” for Indian citizens to use pan-Indian eGov services, ranging from the Central Government to local government bodies.
The UMANG App allows users to track the status of cyclones live. The application allows you to track the status of Cyclone Yaas, which is expected to strike parts of Odisha and Bengal in just a few hours.
