Copying Spells 5E
The copy mechanic in Dnd allows you import spells from the wizard spell into your spellbook. This mechanic is available only to Wizards. All spellcasters should be able to memorize and/or access every spell.
Why would you want to do it?
Your versatility will increase by copying spells 5e from outside events to your Spellbook. Level 20 Wizards who copy zero Spells from outside events to their Wizard Spellbook are able to learn 24 spells of the 1st level or higher. While the 24 spells are less than the Sorcerer’s, they are still more than the Bard or Bard.
Suppose, if you do copy, let’s say, 20 spells, then you’re doubling your potential answers for various problems. You can also create 20 spells. Of course as long as your adventure brings you to the towns, the pits you against the enemy spellcasters, or else drops any scrolls as the loot, you’ll perhaps copy more than 20 spells.
How Can You Copy Wizard Spells?

These spells however are time-consuming and expensive (just as the spell books) and require a DC10 + spell intelligence (Arcana). The spell will not be copied into a book if you fail to pass this test. You can use the spell scroll or destroy it, regardless of its success or failure.
What’s the cost and timeframe?
It is time-consuming and tedious. It takes approximately 2 hours to create a spell. Do you know that 5e spells cost 50 Gold each level to copy? To copy a level 3 Fireball Scroll, Wizards need to spend 6 hours and 150 coins. Your DM will determine if it is possible to do this in smaller chunks or all at one time.
In any case if you’re dnd 5e duplicate spells from your personal spellbook to another spell book, the time has been halved and also the cost has been reduced by 80%; 1 hour and 10 gold per spell level.
Is it possible for this to be reduced?
Yes you can reduce! Copying wizard spells can be cheaper at certain spell schools. An Abjuration Wizard can learn in any situation. Protection from Evil and GoodThis spell is possible in less than an hour using 25 gold.
Of course the order of Scribes from the Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is also the most fantastic option for reducing the time (but of course not money). The school will create the Quill. This will reduce the time it takes to copy spells, but not increase its cost. So instead of 2 hours per level…it usually takes 2 minutes. Do you know that’s an insane time save. So, if you’re annoyed just because of the DM that expects you to sit in chair for 18 hours to learn Wish and then instead of you can spend 18 minutes.
So, here unfortunately, the Order of Scribes shall keep the cost, since you’re still have to be experiment with the spells and then use the special ink. So, a bit of a shame, but of course it couldn’t be strictly better than the Savant abilities!
Mainly the Savant abilities shall be apply to making a backup spellbook (so, your spell school can have the specialization and it is reduced to 30 minutes and 5 gold per spell level if you’re copying from your personal spellbook). The Order of Scribes Magic Quill does not apply to backup spellbooks unless your DM allows it!).

In any case, you don’t get to automatically prepare all of the spells that you’ve written beforehand. So, if you’ve loosen this spellbook, then you are basically lose all type of spells which you haven’t been prepared to cast in the morning.
What do I do with a Backup Spellbook?
It all depends on your DM. The most time-consuming and costly thing is the backup spellbook. However, having a backup spellbook in safe hands will greatly increase your ability to prepare. It’s best to keep it in a Bag of Holding or somewhere else safe. Or else, even hiding two spellbooks upon your body isn’t much of an improvement over the hiding one.
You would likely want to have an emergency backup. But maybe during your Bard or Sorcerer is going out in order to find such information, of course you’re selfishly prepare for the disaster. So you’re one of the backbones of party’s puzzle-solving ability, so they’ll probably understand!
