What are the rarest magic items? This is a hot topic within dungeons and dragons role-play. There are many arguments. If you’re curious about this aspect you can read this article then you will feel better about this dnd5e magical items by rarity information. So why late let’s get started.

Of course in an addition to this there is a table on Starting Equipment on p. 38. that almost suggests the 10th level character must have “No magic items” and the “Standard Campaign” and also “One uncommon item” in the high common magic campaign. Probably the rare items kick in at the levels 17 & 11 for the Standard and High Magic Campaign respectively; never for a Low Magic Campaign.

You can see the d&d 5e magic item table by rarity here:

We will now show you the magic item rarity 5e. We will guide you every step of your journey.

The following supplement was published recently. Xanathar’s Guide to EverythingThe XGtE book now includes a section about how to award magic items. Of course it is very quite detailed, i’ve summarised with a below mentioned table, where the numbers are represent some number of items of each rarity which the party should receive in each tier:

Rare items can be made magical by being granted a degree of randomness

Character LevelCommonUncommonRareVery RareLegendary

DMG p135’s charts are preferred by most DMs to help determine where a character should be when they seek the item. It is a guess at how long it will take them to get one, based on the odds. DMG p133 displays the expected hoard payouts in a typical campaign. This includes magical items consumable and combatable.

  • CR 0-4 7 Rolls
  • CR 5-10 18 rolls
  • CR 11-16 12 rolls
  • CR 17+ 8 rolls

In any case Starting at the Table G on a hoard generation charts starting at p137 it is always possible to get a “Rare” item. It is almost impossible to find rare items in these hoards. After that “Very Rare” consumables are at least possible on the Table D which starts being found with the CR 5-10 hoards and Table I has the “Legendary” items and of course it is starting to be a possibility by CR 11 hoards. You must keep in mind which is a typical challenging encounter is always about the same or else a bit higher than the party’s level.
