Your damage dices are a D10, which can be quite impressive. For each additional spell slot, you get an additional 10 die. So really interesting there is a maximum on that by the way and the maximum is 6d10 as so if you’re planning on burning like a 6th or 7th spell slot for this you don’t really gain any benefit from it so just please keep that in mind. Cast time is a bonus action so it’s really cool. duration is one minute and it is concentration that’s where the confusion comes This is the wayThis will be explained in the following article. There’s a saving throw as well it is a dexterity saving throw and should your targets succeed they take half damage. They are verbal parts which is very useful because the damage type is piercing while the school is conjuration. The following shows your effect:
The next range attack deals additional damage to the target as well as any creatures located within 5ft. Namely that d10 or however many d10 based on your spell’s level.
Now let’s take a look at the full description here and really fleshy so. These are the details:
Description
Use a ranged weapon attack to strike the creature again before the spell ends. This spell causes a torrent of thorns to sprout from your ammunition or ranged weapons. This attack has the usual effect, but every creature within 5 meters of it must make a Dexterity saving throw. If a save fails, the creature takes 1d10piercing damage. Half the damage is done by a successful save.
Now you can check: d&d 5e staggering smite spell
Higher Levels
Imagine you are casting the spell using the spell slots at 2nd and higher levels. For every slot above the first, the damage will increase by 1d10 (maximum of 6d10).
So, couple really important things there the reason there’s confusion around this is the sword of the Cast time allows you to focus for one minute.. It is that simple. This shot cannot be done for more than one minute. You can keep the arrow in place for as long as one minute before releasing it. The shot doesn’t need to be done for more than one-minute.. I hope you’ve understand why is a hail of thorns a concentration spell? So it’s kind of good for the very start of encounters right. There’s also a little bit of controversy when it says the next time you hit a creature. This means that you must have taken attack action. I personally don’t agree with that, I’ve seen people argue in the past so in their head it’s taken attack action, take this is the bonus action then your next attack action would be the one enchanted by this particular spell.
There are other uses
I can’t really think of any off the top of my head and it’s great at dealing with it’s great for crowd control for sure. It has better spells. But it still not bad, the fact that it’s a bonus action pretty good. This attack is magical, I’ll admit it. It doesn’t explicitly say that misspelled scripts model and parson is an inherently a match as a type of damage but i would rule this is a magical attack
