How to activate 2-factor authentication in your Google account

Google’s two-step verification system has been in place for some time to protect your Google account. Google+, Gmail and Hangouts are all included. Follow the steps below to enable two-step verification.

Click here to go to Google My Account.

– Select ‘Security.

Click on the 2-Step Verification button

Click on “Get Started” to enter your mobile number and choose how you would like the OTP sent (text message, phone call).

We recommend that you choose text message, then click next.

Once you have received the OTP enter it and then click on Turn On

After two-step verification has been turned on you have the option to choose an alternative second step, such as Google prompt or authenticator app. You can also select backup code (that you can print out and keep), security key, or backup phones. Google Prompt sends an alert to a log in Android phone. The user can tap yes or no to verify or deny access. It sends a message if the phone isn’t connected.


– Open your Google Account.
Select Security in the Navigation Panel
Select 2-Step Verification under “Signing In to Google” Get started.
Follow the instructions on screen.
