Holi celebrations are a time to get together but many still won’t be able to join their family or loved ones to play Holi. Metaverse has been pushed by few Indian companies as an answer to this problem. Many Indian tech companies have been using Metaverse for launch events and other purposes, but this is the first time an Indian festival is being hosted in the Metaverse.
CoinSwitch was the Fintech partner to Yug Metaverse in the Holi 2022 celebration. The companies, in a joint statement, claimed that this is World’s first Metaverse Holi.
“Holi is a celebration of colour, friendship, and love. CoinSwitch welcomes Yug as a partner to bring this joyous Indian tradition into the Metaverse. CoinSwitch is committed to providing a great customer experience. We are committed to shaping the future interaction of Indians with technology. Metaverse Holi is a perfect blend of our rich tradition and technological prowess,” said Ashish Singhal, Founder and CEO, CoinSwitch.
“Since always we have seen western festivals being celebrated on games and metaverses, and we wished that festivals like Holi which is a festival of colour should also be celebrated. So we have created World’s first Holi experience in Metaverse for people to enjoy. You can play Holi with your friends and have DJ and dance fun. We believe digital Holi is a great way to have fun. We have worked to make it a safe environment to enjoy,” said Utkarsh Shukla, Founder, and CEO, YUG Metaverse.
How to play Holi in Metaverse
The Yug Metaverse App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The user will need to create an account. The app will allow you to create your Avatar. At the time this article was written, there were three venues in the metaverse. Holi is one of these venues. Once you select the Holi 2022 venue, you’ll be taken to a download page to get the files ready. After that, you can start playing Holi in your metaverse.
Not all features will be available at the moment.
