YouTube is the leader in original content repository, and the number of Facebook videos has increased over the years. All this is great, but the autoplay video option on Facebook (which has been around since 2017) was one of our most annoying issues when we opened the app. Unfortunately, this is true for almost all social media apps on the internet. While it is nice to play content that interests you, it can be irritating when sensitive material plays automatically. There is an easy way to turn off the auto-playing feature. Here are some simple ways to avoid having videos obstructing your view as you scroll through Twitter or Facebook.
How do I disable autoplay on Facebook?
On Android app
These are the steps you should follow if your Android phone is being used.
Step 1. Open Facebook and click on the menu button in the upper right corner.
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and look for ‘Settings & Privacy’, then click on Settings.
Step 3: After you have opened the file, scroll down to find “Media and Contacts”.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Autoplay’ option, then change it to Never Autoplay videos’.
On iOS app
Step 1: You will see the menu button at the bottom of your screen, just like in the Android app.
Step 2: Click on Settings & Privacy> and select ’Settings>.
Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and type in ‘Media & Contacts’.
Step 4: Next, tap the “Videos and Pictures” option.
Step 5: Next, you will see ‘Autoplay’. You can then disable this feature.
Here’s how to disable autoplay video from your browser feed if you like browsing your newsfeeds in your browser.
Step 1. Launch Facebook on your browser. Next, go to the drop-down menu in the top left corner of the page.
Step 2: Click on ‘Settings and Privacy’, then click ‘Settings.
Step 3: Click on the “Videos” link in the left menu.
Step 4: You will see a button that allows you to mute the autoplay video feature.
How do I disable autoplay on Twitter
On iOS, Android platform
Step 1. Open Twitter on Android or iOS and click the hamburger icon in the upper left corner.
Step 2: Choose ‘Settings & Privacy’ from the menu.
Step 3: Find the “Data usage” option.
Step 4: After the browser is opened, scroll down to find the “Video autoplay” option. Tap on it, and then set it at ‘Never’.
Step 1: Tap on “More” in the left menu and select “Settings and Privacy”.
Step 2: Scroll down and select ‘Accessibility and display’.
Step 3: Under ‘Data usage’ you’ll find the ‘Autoplay’ setting.
Step 4: Turn off autoplaying videos in your feed to stop annoying sounds.
