Google has been working on ways to combine different services into one app for some time. One app that will combine all G-Suite apps is being considered. Google has recently implemented its unifying strategy by introducing the Google Meet Tab within the Gmail App.

How to disallow Google Meet tab from Gmail

Step 1. Go to Gmail Settings

Go to Gmail, and open the hamburger menu. This will be located in the upper right corner, under three lines. You will also find many other elements, including inbox folders such as Primary, Social and Promotions. To find “Settings”, scroll down to the end of the list.

Step 2: Go to the Account Settings page

Here you will find a General Settings option. There will also be an additional section with settings for your Gmail ID. This section is required. You will see a section that is specific to each Gmail account if you have more than one Gmail Inbox. This will need to be set for each account.

Step 3: Disable the “Show Meet” tick

You have many options, but it is important to focus on the “Meet” sub-section. Here, you will find the “Show the Meet Tab for Video Calling” option. You will not see the Google Meet tab for your account if you tick it off. Repeat Steps 2 and 3.
