How to unlock your iPhone wearing a face mask

Apple iOS 15.4 beta has the capability to unlock iPhones with a mask. The feature is currently in beta testing, and it is available only to developers and users who are part of the public beta.

Although a handful of early adopters (respected YouTube YouTubers) were able to get their hands on the feature, most users still have yet to experience it. Apple has not yet released an iOS 15.4 stable release date. However, if that is impossible, there are some workarounds you could try.

Face ID (beta mode). How to unlock iPhone using Face ID

The feature is available in iOS 15.4 beta. It is only available for the most recent iPhone models, including iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini. If you have the beta version of FaceID, you will need to follow these steps to enable FaceID using a mask.

Open the Settings app for your iOS device.

Next, go to Face ID and Passcode. Enter your passcode.

Next toggle: Use Face ID With a Mask

The Use Face ID with Mask option is shown on the next slide.

You are ready to go!

If you don’t have iOS 15.4 beta or the latest iPhone, there is an alternative option.

Unlock your iPhone with Apple Watch

Open the Settings app for your iPhone first.

-Then select Face ID & Passcode.

Enter the passcode, then scroll down until you see Unlock Apple Watch.

To toggle the feature, search for it on your Apple Watch.

After you have completed these steps, your iPhone will unlock with the face mask. To unlock your iPhone, simply lift it up and the phone will vibrate at your wrist.
