Koo launched a self-verification program for users. Micro-blogging site Koo claims it is the first to offer Voluntary Self Verification.
Koo stated that users could self-verify their account on the platform in seconds using their approved ID card from their government. Koo claims that this will authenticate and lend credibility to people’s thoughts and opinions.
How will your verified account look?
Koo will place a symbol in the shape of a green tick on accounts that are self-verified. This feature was introduced by Twitter rival app, Twitter-rival. It is in compliance with Rule 4(7) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines & Digital Media Ethics Code Rules), 2021.
How do I self-verify my Koo account
First, users will need to input their Government-ID Number. Afterwards, the user will receive an OTP using the ID number.
Once the OTP has been successfully authenticated, users will be self-verified and receive a green tick to their profile
-Koo has claimed that the validation process is carried out by Government-authorized third parties.
Koo has also announced safety that it will not save any data during this process.
Koo won’t display the ID used to verify an account. The ID that was used to verify the account won’t show up on the Koo platform.
