How to use Microsoft Word transcribe feature

Microsoft Word now allows you to transcribe audio files and conversations in real time. This audio transcription function is only currently available in the web version. This feature is now available to all Microsoft 365 customers and can be used by journalists, students and entrepreneurs. It will be available for all Microsoft 365 users and can be downloaded to Word for Android or iOS apps before the year ends, according to the company.

This feature currently supports only English, but Microsoft claims that they will add support for additional languages. The ability to upload an audio file, then transcribe the recorded audio is possible. The company says that you can upload a pre-recorded audio file and then transcribe the recording. However, this is limited to only five hours per month. Uploads are limited to 200MB. Users can use Transcribe for Word with new Microsoft Edge and Chrome.

You can also find the Google app Live Transcribe in Play Store. Although this app is great for transcribing live, it only works in English. Microsoft Word’s transcribe function: How do you use it?

First Step: Sign in to Microsoft 365. Use the new Microsoft Edge and Chrome.

Second Step: Start Microsoft Word, go to Home>Dictate Dropdown > Transcribe.
