Normally, the Faerûn has a wide variety of knightly orders and also all of which those have a similar outlook which is to concerning their actions and also responsibilities.
Even though a term called “Knight” can conjure ideas of the mounted and also heavily armored warriors of a noble blood, even most of the knightly orders in a Faerûn do not stop their membership for such type of individuals. Mainly their goals and also philosophies of an order are much important than a gear and also the fighting style of its members, for that reason most of these orders are not to be limited for the fighting types, but they are normally open for all the sorts of folk those whoever are interesting to battle and wish to die for the order’s cause.
Al though, the “Knightly Orders of Faerûn” section above details several of an order which are almost active at present and also it has been designed for helping in inform your decision about what group that you owe allegiance to.

As per the suggested characteristics your bond is almost always to be involved the order for that which you do belong to be (or at least key members of it), and also it is highly unusual for the knight’s ideal which is not to reflect their agenda, sentiment, or philosophy of one’s order.
In this case your knightly order might be something more along the lines of the knights of helm from the baldur’s gate series kind of more in your face might as write kind of an order but ultimately there are so many deities in the multiverse and so many things you can come with on your own that don’t feel free or don’t feel like you’re being pigeon holed in one way or another.
Feature: Knightly Orders Of Faerûn
Many of knight of the order background whoever rightfully call themselves as “knight” earn that normally title like a part of an order in the service of a deity, like the Kelemvor’s are eternal order or else the Mystra’s Knights of the Mystic Fire. Other knightly orders serve the government, royal families or elite military of feudal countries, such as the brutal Warlock Knights Of Vaasa.
Other knighthoods are not limited to those who practice a particular philosophy. They may also consider themselves to be the kings or extended families. These are similar in nature to orders of monks. Even though there are some organizations such as a Knights of the Shield which is actually use the trappings of a knighthood that without necessarily being warriors, of course most folk of the Faerûn that whoever hear the word “knight” they might think of the mounted warrior in an armor beholden to the code. Here are some examples.
- Knights of the Unicorn Knights of the unicorn is a feature and this has begun as the fad of romantically thinking sons and also the daughters of patriar families in a Baldur’s Gate. As a joke, they adopted Lurue (the unicorn goddess) as their mascot. They embarked on many adventures.
Of course the reality of the dangers that they have faced time to time sank in, like did Lurue’s tenets. A small group of them gained followers in Cormyr and other places. The knights of the unicorn are chivalric adventurers who live by romantic ideals. They lead a life almost too enjoyable, but also full of laughter. It is important to pursue impossible dreams and celebrate their achievements.
- Knights of Myth Drannor The history of the knights-of-myth dannor group has been long. It was also known by the famed adventure band and the dove Falconhand (one of the most popular seven sisters). The band’s name is often taken to honor the great, but dead city, similar to the Knights of Myth Drannor.
Falconhand and Falconhand, a dove Falconhand, decided to rebuild the group after the city was in ruin. Their main goal was to build friendship and alliances between civilized races, and good people.
Knights from myth Drannor can now ride the roads of Dalelands again and have begun to spread their knowledge to other lands. Each of their members was accepted by the Dove and are brave and honest.
- Knights of the Silver Chalice This organization was founded by Siamorphe’s edict, a Waterdeep demigod. Also the Siamorphe’s ethos was the nobility’s right and even their responsibility to rule, also the demigod is incarnated like a different noble mortal in each of their generation.
At that time, the decree of Siamorphe also was issued. The knights from silver Chalice decided to restore order and put a proper successor on Tethyr’s crown. They have been the most beloved knighthood in Tethyr and have also been the nation that has hosted many of these knighthoods as loyalty to the crown.

Knightly Regard
Being this D&D 5e knight of the order background you receive a shelter and also succor from the members of your knightly order and even those whoever are sympathetic for its aims. Imagine your order were religious. You can then seek help from temples or other religious communities of your deity.
The community can support knights of civic organization. This could be small towns or large nations. Knights of philosophical orders or knights of civic orders may also be able to seek help from others who have supported their pursuits.
It provides shelter, food, sometimes even healing.
Really great stuff, i think a good way to kind of or an interesting idea at the very least of a knightly order is to treat them as kind of sort of bodyguards for hire not quite mercenaries because they won’t go out and do illegal acts but if you are a mage for example who needs protection while in a certain area then you can hire out a certain knightly order and they will come to your aid.
As long as the research you’re doing is either in line with the order goals or you provide the order with a copy of the research that you complete something that effect would be really really interesting and i would really like that. However this class just like a handful of the others from the sword coast adventurers guide is really all about flexibility and customization, so it’s certainly worth sitting down with your dungeon master. Maybe coming up with a couple orders one that you represent, one that’s maybe antagonistic towards you and a handful of others that are either on good terms with you slightly disaligned or neutral and kind of come up with a whole other dimension of the world that they facilitated.
There’s a lot of really interesting ideas you can work with it gives the dungeon master a lot to think about and a lot of world building to do that is directly applicable to the party and it gives the character a lot to think about in terms of the grander goals for what their character might be.
Now let’s get on to my personal thoughts
Thoughts
It’s a wonderful idea to have a knight of the order. I think it’s cool, i think it’s a good balance between utility as well as a quest providing options and it gives the DM a ton to work with as well. It’s a fantastic idea. I haven’t played with a lot of characters who have picked the knight of the order. But i feel like a lot of that has to do with people just not knowing it’s really a thing.
