Meta is not hosting its F8 developer conference this year: Here’s why

Meta’s F8 developer conference will be held in 2022. This announcement was made by the tech giant via a blog post. Meta’s Diego Duarte Moreira, Meta’s CEO, pointed out the construction of “the next chapter on the internet” and also the next chapter in our company: the creation of the metaverse.

Meta’s Diego Duarte Moreira wrote in a blog that “Similarly to years passed, we will take a short break in programming” and would not host F8 in 2022. While we prepare for new initiatives, all of which are geared towards building the metaverse.

Building the metaverse, which will look a lot like the beginning stages of the internet, will require collaboration at all stages — with creators and other developers, just as it was for the initial web.

Moreira did mention the inaugural business messaging event, titled ‘Conversations’, which will take place May 19. Moreira stated that communication is rapidly changing in the business world. Therefore, a conference is needed for developers and companies who are interested in creating faster and better experiences using the top messaging platforms.

Company executives will be sharing new product updates as well as insights on business development. Meta’s executives, partners and product leaders, as well as leading brands around the world, will be discussing technical deep dives and demonstrations regarding businesses and developers.

Matthew Idema, Meta, says that every week more than 1,000,000 people connect to a business account using our messaging services (including WhatsApp Messenger and Instagram Direct) – and this number is expected to grow as more people seek more personal and convenient conversations.

The tech company cancelled the 2020 event due to the Coronavirus epidemic. Its 2021 event was held in an exclusive virtual format, F8 Refresh.

Other tech companies will also be hosting their events in the next months. This includes Google I/O on May 11, and May 12. Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2022 will take place from June 6-10, 2022. The events will be held virtually. The IFA 2022 event will take place online, but it is scheduled for early September.

Meta has announced that it will not hold their F8 conference in 2022 and is taking a break instead. The CEO of Meta, Diego Moreira, explains how the metaverse will be created. Meta’s business messaging event entitled ‘Conversations’ will take place on May 19th in Miami.
