Salute adventurers from all sizes and shapes. Welcome to my spellbook. We appreciate your participation in the 45th Episode. Today we’re going to be taking a look at one of my all-time favorite feats and one that i quite frankly put on almost every character i build and play. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at the one the only d&d 5e ritual caster featThis information is contained in the player’s handbook. This feat is one of the longest in 5e. It’s two full paragraphs and there’s a lot to attend a lot to dissect. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the description and really suss out the details here.

Description

Two things are just a quick reminder. The first part is to help you understand the magnitude of this feat. It actually had two parts. This article would only be part one.

Secondly there is a prerequisite and that is that you got to have a 13 or higher in either your intelligence or wisdom which you know kind of makes sense, if you’re looking at casting spells. In any case let’s take a look at the description here. It will be broken down later.

Prerequisite:Intelligence, Wisdom and Knowledge of 13 or Higher

The spells you know can be used to create rituals. These spells are typically found in a specific book. When casting these spells, you should always have a copy with you.

The dnd5e caster feat will allow you to acquire a book with two 1st level spells. Choose from one of the following classes: Bard cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlockOr wizard. So you must need to chose all of your spells from that class’s spell’s list. Also the spell’s that you’ve chosen they must have the ritual tag. For any dnd class you choose, the ritual tag must also be included. Of course even the class that you’ve selected also can determines your spellcasting ability for these spells such as: Charisma for bard, sorcerer, or warlock; Wisdom for cleric or druid; or Intelligence for wizard.

This is the first paragraph. holy-moly a lots going on there let’s take a look at the second one now.

When you’ve come across to the spell in written form, then a magical spell scroll or else a wizard’s spellbook and you might have been capable to add it to your ritual book. Also the particular spell must be on a spell list for the class that you’ve chosen also the spell’s level could be not higher than the half your level (rounded up), and of course, it must have a ritual tag.

Copying the spell into your Ritual Book will take approximately 120 minutes (2 hour) for each level. Each level costs 50 Gp. The 50 Gp price is for materials. The spell master will require you to buy inks and other parts.

This is a lot of information, holy moly. Let’s break it down and really simplify this. This will make it easier for us to understand and digest the process. Let’s take a look at the walkthrough here.

Walkthrough

Step one was to select a spell-casting bard, cleric and druid. Next, choose the first level spells from your list. They must also have the ritual tag. This means they can only cast in rituals. This second paragraph is extremely convenient, super easy and very nice. Copy it as long your spell level matches or exceeds that of the other person. The ritual tag is included with it. This spell is available for two hours and costs 50 gold pieces.

It was simple. So honestly i really like his one that’s something i would like to pint that before we go out to my personal thoughts. It’s your level, or half of it. So what that means is if you’re like let’s say a level 5 you can actually cast level three ritual spells which is super super good. My team was a little crazy, I mean when I use it to customize level 3 spells, Level 5. I’m on arcane tricksters so this really helps broaden my horizons. That being said, let’s look at my personal thoughts  on this.

Thoughts

So, you know if i was a DM if you’re a DM actually and you’re having a hard time with your players, with this ritual you can really enforce that 50 gold points the fact that i have to find the spell stuff like that eat more strictly my current DM doesn’t really care for it. If you play adventures league i don’t really keep track of that stuff anyway so there’s no real need to. But if you really wanted to stop this from wrecking your game that’d be a good way to do it.

That being said if you’re a player character and really want to take advantage of this you know who benefits most? It depends on what campaign you are running. Obviously, if you’re a wizard or a warlock and you can already ritual cast this might not be the best for you. But if you are a let’s say a paladin right! so you have a really good charisma but you can’t ritual casts and your spell horizon is fairly limited. To see what other classes have to offer, you might look into them.

So, i think paladin’s would probably gain the most from it just because of that most of the other casters can cast as rituals as well. It’s not super beneficial for them either way. It is an option if you want to increase your character’s utility. For example like tensors floating disk, that’s a ritual spell you can grab that. Find familiar that’s a ritual spell you can grab that.

I would highly recommend grabbing find familiar for this just because you’re familiar can take the help action. These spells are easy to cast and well worth the money. It is even more powerful because you can increase the number of them as your adventures progress. This is one of my favorite feats.

This is my second time using it.

Conclusion

All that being said, that’s all i have to really say on it. Honestly i could go on all day but that’s the important stuff at the very least if you have any comments regarding ritual caster or any combos, any cool stories or any thoughts please put it down in the comments below, i really like reading them. It seems everyone enjoys this article. Thank you so much for all your wonderful adventures.
